Error message Imax DC
(en) The Imax DC error message indicates an overcurrent on the DC input side of the inverter. This message can only appear in transformerless inverters. The device limits excess current by shifting the MPP voltage to the open-circuit voltage and by only utilizing the specified or maximum permissible current.
Notice:
In addition to the Imax DC error message, there is also the Imax error message on transformer devices.
If the message only appears very rarely (a maximum of once or twice a week), no further action has to be taken. In this case, the next step is to continue to monitor the device.
However, if the message repeats or persists, there are various possible approaches:
If it is a new installation or the circuitry of the PV module has recently been changed, it is worth having the design and circuitry checked by the installer.
For PV systems that have run failure-free for years until now, it can be assumed that there is a disturbance in the current control of the inverter, i.e. a device defect on the inverter.
In this case, please contact SMA Service with the following information to order a replacement device:
• Device type and serial number of the inverter
• If the device is in the warranty period: the warranty certificate
• LED blink code and error message
• How long has the error been present for? Is it sporadic or continuous?
• When was the system installed or when was the module circuitry changed?
