In AC coupling, various loads, generators, and storage units are connected to the alternating voltage side (AC: 120 V or 230 V, 50 or 60 Hz).
The benefits:
The electrical losses on the AC side are low due to the high voltages. This allows for larger distances between generators and loads.
Additionally, commercially available electric devices can be used.
Power generators and loads can similarly be integrated into the Sunny Island system. PV plants and wind turbine systems, diesel generators, hydroelectric power plants, and CHP plants can be coupled on the AC side just like conventional 120 or 230 volt loads.
As such, Sunny Island inverters offer two significant benefits: Firstly, they offer maximum flexibility when planning and designing your plant, and secondly, there is no need for complex DC cabling when setting up the plant.
