ISSUE

You find that your Windows-based laptop does not have the Sunny Explorer application installed, or you want to check that your copy is the latest version available, but you are unable to download the software from the SMA-America website.

RESOLUTION

Always confirm that you have the latest version of Sunny Explorer installed on your Windows-based laptop, before calling the Service Line for inverter trouble-shooting support.  For best results, download and install the software at the office before heading to the site.  To locate the current version of the Sunny Explorer software, navigate to “Products/Monitoring & Control/Sunny Explorer” at www.sma-america.com.  For more detailed guidance, see the steps in the Procedure below.

Pre-Requisite Conditions:

• You MUST have Administrative Rights to the Windows-based computer, first when you install the Sunny Explorer (SE) software and onsite whenever you plan on using it. 
• For proper functionality of Sunny Explorer, a restart of your Computer is required after the software is installed.

PROCEDURE – Detailed Software Download and Installation Instructions

1.  To locate the current version of the Sunny Explorer software, navigate to www.sma-america.com.
 2.  Select “Products -> “Monitoring and Control” -> “Sunny Explorer” (scroll down until you see the SMA Logo with a Magnifying Glass).
 3.  Click on the logo, or select “Continue” found just below the Sunny Explorer icon, then click on the “Downloads” tab.
 4.  Double-click on the current version of the software found in the “PC Software” section, which for this case is “SunnyExplorerSetup_v1_07_29_R.exe.“

5.  The download will take approximately 10 minutes, depending on your internet connection speed. 

 6.  After the executable file has finished downloading, locate the “SunnyExplorerSetup_vX_XX_XX_R.exe” file in your “Downloads” folder.

 7.  Follow the steps of the Sunny Explorer Setup Wizard to complete the setup.

8.  You must first toggle to “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” to proceed with the set-up.

 9.  Allow the file to download to the designated folder, unless you prefer another user-defined location.
*Note:  It may take several minutes for the Setup Wizard to install Sunny Explorer. 

10.  Your computer MUST be restarted before Sunny Explorer is ready for use.
