Can an SMA Energy Meter be used in Sunny Home Manager systems ?
(jh) The Sunny Home Manager is limited to two SMA Energy Meters only:
- At the grid connection point for feed-in and grid supply measurement.
- At a central point where all PV generation is measured.
Settings for this in the properties of the Sunny Home Manager in the Device overview in the Sunny Portal.
If there is no Energy Meter assigned to the PV generation, the PV generation values of existing SMA inverters are cumulated as the PV generation used for the total system. Access to this data is via Bluetooth or Speedwire connection of the SMA inverters.
As soon as an SMA Energy Meter is assigend for PV generation measurement, only this central measured value is used for the system. SMA inverter generation via data connection (Bluetooth or Speedwire) is ignored in this configuration.
The benefit of this configuration: You can use the Sunny Home Manager with non-SMA inverters as well. Also a mix of non-SMA and SMA inverters is possible. The forecast of the Sunny Home Manager only consider photovoltaik-type generation. A wind generator would confuse the Sunny Home Manager’s forecast and planning.
