An RS485 interface is normally not necessary but recommended in some cases
All Sunny Tripower inverters, the SB 3000TL/4000TL/5000TL, and the SB 2000HF/2500HF/3000HF are equipped at the factory with a Bluetooth® interface.
This allows you access to the devices and their energy data for communication. For our Bluetooth® monitoring devices, the Sunny Beam with Bluetooth® and Sunny WebBox-20, or by means of the Sunny Explorer software, a plant monitoring function is already provided that offers you all the benefits associated with wireless data transmission.
If required, an additional RS485 interface can be retrofitted to these device types. This could be beneficial if:
- There are large distances between the inverters or large distances between the data logger and the nearest inverter. Detailed information on distances can be found in our user and installation manuals for the Bluetooth® devices Sunny Beam and WebBox with Bluetooth®.
- There are stringent requirements to be met by the plant control system, e.g. requirements set by the energy supplier that concern the external power reduction of large-scale PV plants.
- There are major requirements regarding the availability of plant data.
Please take account of the installation of the data cables, which is also required.
For all other Sunny Boy and Sunny Mini Central inverters, only one interface can be installed in the inverter in each case. Your electrically qualified person should be able to assist you in planning and executing a suitable plant monitoring system.
