Tips for plant design
1) The peak power of the PV plant should be less than 1.1 kWp per 1 000 kWh annual power consumption. Only then can it be ensured that natural self-consumption is in excess of 30%
2) The Sunny Backup inverter should be selected according to the required backup functionality:
- System S is sufficient to continue to supply selected loads on a line conductor in the event of a grid failure.
- System M is capable of supplying an entire single-family home.
- System L is suitable for apartment buildings and small businesses.
3) The optimum battery capacity depends on the amount of current drawn by the household and the size of the PV plant. Approximate values for lead acid batteries are as follows:
- System S: 5 – 10 kWh
- System M: 8 – 12 kWh
- System L : Please consult your installer as the battery capacity must be determined on an individual basis.
In case of lithium batteries, a battery with a lower capacity can be used. This is because of the higher charge-cycle resistance and the better full-discharge capabilities of the lithium battery.
