Increase self-consumption and substitute power supply
Backup System to increase self-consumption
With the Sunny Backup system, you can store the electric current from your PV plant to use it yourself later on. It monitors the exchange of power on the power distribution grid, and decides when to charge the batteries with PV electric current and when to supply the load with stored PV electric current from the battery.
In detail, this works as follows: The Sunny Backup system acquires the electric current from the household, the power generation and the surplus supply from the PV plant via the meter. When power generation is higher than consumption, the battery is charged with this excess PV current. When the battery is fully charged, excess current flows into the power distribution grid.
When power consumption is higher than power generation, the battery is discharged. This increases the self-consumption of the PV current. When the set state of charge of, for example, 50% is reached, electric discharge is stopped and supply from the power distribution grid is resumed.
Backup System as replacement power supply
The Sunny Backup system can do even more: In the event of a power outage in the power distribution grid, the Sunny Backup generates a stand-alone grid and continues to supply the connected load with electric current.
